Wet alarm valve is the water supply control valve in wet fire extinguishing system which makes the water flow in one-way and alarm in the certain rate of flow.
The working principle of wet alarm valve depends on the side water pressure of pipe network system’s decreasing or increasing to open and close valve flap. In ready condition if there is a little diviation for supply water’s pressure the bypass balance pipe will balance the upper and lower’s water pressure of valve flap . While the pressure of valve flap’s upper surface is higher than the lower surface valve flap will not be opened to avoid wrong alarm. In case of fire sprinkler is exploded that cause the water pressure is down on the side of pipe network system the pressure difference between water supply side and system side the valve flap will be opened and water will be continously supplied to the sprinkler to extinguish a fire.
Wet fire extinguishing system with wet alarm valve must be installed in the building at ambient temperature not less than 4℃ to avoid losing fire control function due to freezing.
The standard configuration of wet alarm valve includes : Pressure gauge. Retarding chamber,pressure switch, water motor alarm and necessary pipe fittings and valves.
Ready condition of control ball valve between wet alarm valve’s alarm entrance and retarding chamber must be kept on full opening and tight locking but test alarm control ball valve must be closed. When test alarm is to be done it shall be dismounted and closed the control ball valve’s locking device between the alarm entrance and delayer. At the moment alarm test can be carried out by opening the test alarm control ball valve. After the test the two control valves shall be recovered to the original state.

Installation check
1.Wet alarm valve should be installed in the place where is convenient to check and available to reach and shall be kept necessary maintenance room around it.
2.Wet alarm valve must be mounted a filter on the front of valve to guarantee the water is clear.
3.Wet alram valve must be mounted vertically and shall be paid attention to the flow direction of in and out and the counterbore shall be faced down
4.Check the standard configuation correctness or not according to wet alarm valve’s piping diagram and one-way valve shall not be mounted oppositely.
